Niti Ayog member Dr Joram Aniya visit Assam and review the Flood affected zone


 

ABKK Kamrupa 15th July 2026: Dr. Joram Aniya, Member, NITI Aayog, visited the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) in Guwahati and interacted with ASDMA officials and the UNICEF India team to review Assam’s innovative disaster management initiatives.

The discussions highlighted the impact of DRIMS (Disaster Reporting and Information Management System), a pioneering digital platform developed by ASDMA and UNICEF, which has strengthened flood preparedness and emergency response through real-time data collection, GIS-enabled analytics, and evidence-based decision-making.

Dr. Aniya appreciated Assam’s efforts in advancing disaster resilience through technology, community engagement, and preparedness planning, and emphasised the need to leverage emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, geospatial analytics, and predictive modelling. She also underscored the importance of regional collaboration and inter-state coordination to build a more resilient North-East.

The visit reaffirmed NITI Aayog’s commitment to supporting innovative and technology-driven disaster management for sustainable development.
