Gauhati Press Club Demands PIB Accreditation Cards for Working Journalists in Guwahati
ABKK Kamrupa, Guwahati, July 17th 2026 : The Gauhati Press Club has urged the Government of India to issue Press Information Bureau (PIB) Accreditation Cards to journalists working in Guwahati.
In this regard, a delegation of the Gauhati Press Club on Thursday met Shri Kripashankar Yadav, Additional Director General, PIB North East Region, and Ms. Pavni Gupta, Joint Director, PIB Guwahati, at the PIB office in Guwahati.
During the cordial meeting, the delegation highlighted the importance of providing PIB accreditation cards to working journalists, stating that such recognition would significantly facilitate the smooth discharge of their professional responsibilities. The delegation also submitted a memorandum to the senior PIB officials outlining the demand.
Responding positively to the memorandum, the Additional Director General assured the delegation that the matter would be given due consideration and that necessary steps would be taken in the coming days.
The Gauhati Press Club delegation comprised General Secretary Amarendra Deka, Organising Secretary Dipankar Kalita, Cultural Secretary Samiron Borthakur and Executive Member Trideep Lahkar.
The Gauhati Press Club expressed hope that the implementation of this demand would strengthen the professional recognition of journalists and further improve the working environment for media persons in Guwahati.
